Explore the World with Shorebirds educator’s guide focuses on shorebirds, shorebird habitat, and cultural connections. The guide, available on CD-ROM, is organized into sections which include: A Shorebird Primer for Educators; Classroom Activities; Field Trip Planning Guide; Connecting to Other Cultures; and Shorebird Resources. This user-friendly CD-ROM makes it easy to conduct shorebird conservation education. The curriculum is designed for integration into existing units of study in areas such as Birds, Migration, Habitat, and Research and Technology. And a close look reveals that the activities teach a broad range of concepts in the disciplines of language arts, geography, history, mathematics, social studies and, of course, science. Additionally, all of the activities are correlated to the National Education Standards.

Explore the World with Shorebirds was written in collaboration with both formal and non-formal educators in the USA and Canada. The SSSP thanks educators from the following institutions who reviewed, pilot tested, and provided feedback on the content and activities: Woodward Academy, Jonesboro, Georgia; Georgetown Charter School, Millsboro, Delaware; Bishop Ryan High School, Minot, North Dakota; H.G. Olsen Elementary, Port Aransas, Texas; Miami Norland Senior High, Miami, Florida, Department of Education Culture and Employment, Yellowknife, Nunavut, Canada; and Crooked River State Park, St. Marys, Georgia.
